Gloria Mae Walden

NEGAUNEE, MI – Gloria Mae Walden, 74, of Negaunee, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 22nd, 2022 at U.P. Health System – Marquette, with her family at her side.

Gloria was born on November 25th, 1947 in Ishpeming, a daughter of the late Gerald and Gertrude (Paananen) Brassard.

She was employed as a registered nurse most of her adult life in Marquette County, Florida and Massachusetts. She ultimately returned to Marquette where she finished her nursing career as a case manager. Gloria dedicated her whole life to caring for others.

She cherished spending time with her family. She had a passion for animals and was a staunch supporter of the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter.

Survivors include her daughter, Kelly Ann Walden of Negaunee; sister-in-law, Patricia Alperi; special cousin, Jan (Lou) Londo as well as many other cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death besides her parents was a brother, Robert Alperi.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 7th in the Bishop’s Room of St. Peter Cathedral from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in the church with the Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber officiating and assisted by Deacon Lou Londo. Burial will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to UPAWS, PO Box 968, Marquette, MI 49855 in Gloria’s memory.
