GWINN, MI – Martin Paul “Marty” Strohm, 70, of Gwinn, passed away Friday afternoon, November 25th, 2022, at his residence.

Marty was born on June 20th, 1952, in Franklin Park, IL, to the late Gust and Dorothy (Heimerle) Strohm. His family soon moved to Gwinn, where he was raised and was a 1970 graduate of Gwinn High School.

Marty was employed as a custodian and bus driver for Gwinn Public Schools for many years, retiring in 2004. In previous years, Marty was an avid bowler in Gwinn. He had a life-long interest and love for the outdoors and spent many hours fishing and exploring in the woods. During his retirement, he opened Gwinn Bait & Tackle, where he enjoyed many conversations and socialization with his customers and friends.

Marty is survived by his two daughters, Molly Strohm of Gwinn and Sally Strohm of Mont Clare, PA; his much-loved grandson, Carson of Gwinn; siblings, Robert (Alla) Strohm, Lynda (Bob) Casale and Debbie (Mike) Freeman; as well as, several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Marty was preceded in death by his beloved partner, Joyce Styer; older brother, Richard Strohm; and his twin brother, Jack Strohm.

Marty’s family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, December 2nd, 2022, at Canale Gwinn Funeral Home from 1 until 3 p.m.

A memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. in the funeral home, with Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Marty’s name to Forsyth Township Public Library, PO Box 1328, Gwinn, MI 49841.
