Carol Ann Luokkala

Carol was born in Negaunee, MI, on September 27th, 1941, a daughter of the late Margaret (Carlson) and Laurence “B-boy” Gaboury. She grew up in Ishpeming and was a graduate of the St. Paul’s High School. Carol married the late Paul Luokkala on October 25th, 1959. She worked at the lunch counter at Jim’s Westgate IGA, then for over 20 years as an office clerk at Jilbert’s Dairy in Marquette.

Carol had also sold Avon products for many years. She loved going to all her family members sporting events, along with trips to the Casino’s whether it be locally or trips to Las Vegas or Atlantic City.

Carol is survived by three sons – David Luokkala, Larry (Kelly) Luokkala and Steve (Wendy) Luokkala; a sister – Nancy Kennedy; and sister-in-law – Dolly Carlson all of Ishpeming; 9 grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband – Paul; daughter – Denise; brother Dean Carlson; an infant son – Michael; granddaughter – Carol Jean; infant grandson – David Jr.; great-grandson Noah; and daughter-in-law – Dixie.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home from 4:00 PM, until the time of services at 5:00 PM on Friday, August 19th, 2022. A luncheon will follow the services at the Ishpeming Township Hall. Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kroll and the wonderful staff of the Marquette County Medical Care Facility for taking such excellent care of our mom.
