Karen Tammelin

NEGAUNEE, MI – Karen Joyce Tammelin, 68, of Carr St., Negaunee, passed away at home on Tuesday, July 19th, 2022.

Karen was born October 26th, 1953, in Ishpeming, to Vilho and Norma (Robare) Tammelin and attended Negaunee Public Schools. She was a longtime Certified Nursing Assistant during the years she lived in Wisconsin.

In her spare time, Karen enjoyed being outdoors walking and being around the water. She loved being with her sisters at rummage sales and enjoying a cup of coffee. Karen loved visits with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughter, Michelle (Brody DeMarte) LaForest of Appleton; a son, Johnny Armitage of Marquette; three grandchildren, Layne, Ellie and Dante DeMarte; her brother, Allan Tammelin of Sands Twp.; three sisters, Diana (Paul) Sandstrom of Ishpeming, Debbie (Bob) Rowe of Ishpeming and Terri Beaudin of Negaunee; a brother-in-law, Jim Farley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Peggy Farley and Gerry Pillow; brother-in-law, Louis Beaudin, Jr.; and a nephew, Kristopher Tammelin.

Honoring Karen’s wishes, no public services will be held.
