MARQUETTE, MI – Margaret Robertson (McKechnie) Turner, 85, of Marquette, passed away at U.P. Health System – Marquette on June 21st, 2022.

She was born September 23rd, 1936. Her parents were the late Colin and Margaret McKechnie of Bearsden of Scotland.

She’s survived by her brother, Dougie (Norma) McKechnie and her sister, Moira (Robbie) Donald, both of Scotland.

She was predeceased by her brother, Colin.

She’s also survived by her three children, Larry (Dana Bustos) Turner of Colorado Springs, Linda Turner of Denver, and Lorraine (Ron) Beacom of Midland, MI; her five grandchildren, Colin (Nina Taban), Michelle (Drew U’Ren), William (Laura Lukey), Charlie, & Jackson, and several nieces and nephews as well as her many friends.

Margaret graduated from Northern Michigan University’s School of Nursing in 1972. She began her nursing career at St. Mary’s Hospital and retired from Marquette General, where she worked for over 30 years. She last served as the patient advocate. In 2012, Margaret was the first recipient of MGH’s Heritage Award for her service to the hospital and the community, which was her home for over 50 years. We wish we could take one more trip around the island with her.

A celebration of Margaret’s life will take place on Thursday, June 30th, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., at the Presque Isle Pavilion in Marquette.
