Julie Anderson

PALMER, MI – Julie Ann Anderson, 70, of Nicholas Ave., Palmer, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, April 3rd, 2022, at UP Health System – Marquette.

Julie was born July 30th, 1951, in Ishpeming, to Julius and Ruth (Annear) Anderson, was raised in Palmer and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1969. She then enrolled at and graduated from ECPI in Appleton, WI, with a certificate in computer programming. After working for a few years in Appleton, she returned to the area and worked several years at the Empire Mine, and was then the co-owner of the Beau Chateau. She later worked at the Palmer Home for the Aged, and was finally employed as a housekeeper at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility, retiring in 2013, due to health concerns.

Julie loved her Dodge Challenger, always saying it made her feel young again. When she was well enough, she loved to watch her son, Keith and her grandchildren, Mason and Marissa at their sporting events. She also enjoyed her trips to Appleton to visit with Scott and Carrie, or having them come to Negaunee for a Tino’s cudighi and a glass of homemade wine that Scott would bring to her. She adored her grandchildren and was so proud of Mason for being a goalie like his dad, and Marissa for her love of music just like she had. In her spare time, she enjoyed coffee with her classmates, and sitting on her porch visiting with her neighbors. We will all miss her witty sense of humor, phone calls and visits.

Surviving are her son, Keith (Crystal) Swenor of Negaunee, and their children, Mason Lee and Marissa Mae; a grandson, Jesse Simon of Engadine; her brother, Brandon (Cristina) Anderson and their family. She is also survived by her special Appleton family; Scott, Carrie and Todd Herrmann and their families; and Penny and Butch Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Neil S. Swenor; her sister, Tanya Anderson; special cousin, Grace Mertens; special friends, Lois and Robert Herrmann; and her best friend, Cheryl Boyer.

Julie’s family wishes to extend a very heart felt thank you to Penny and Butch Smith, along with Iva Novak. We truly cannot express our gratitude for the friendship and caregiving you all gave to her over the last couple years. It gave us great comfort knowing she always had you all by her side. Thank you also to the wonderful staff of nurses and doctors at UP Health System – Marquette, especially in the Cardiac and stepdown units. Julie spoke highly of the great care she got in her final days in the hospital. Finally, to Sandi Lusardi, thank you for being at her side.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM, on Saturday, April 16th, at Koskey Funeral Home in Negaunee. Interment will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will also greet family and friends immediately following the celebration at the Negaunee Elks Lodge for a luncheon and time of fellowship.
