MUNISING, MI – Liam Ethan Gauthier, age 23, of Munising, died unexpectedly at his home, on Tuesday, December 14th, 2021.

He was born on September 1st, 1998, in Marquette, Michigan, to Kristoffer and Alison (Nord) Gauthier. Liam grew up in Munising and loved playing youth hockey and soccer. He was a member of the Munising High School Class of 2016. He enjoyed snowboarding, skateboarding and had a passion and gift for art and music throughout his life. Liam also deeply respected his tribal heritage as a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. Liam was a constant advocate for women and championed for equal rights for all. As a Type 1 Diabetic he believed strongly in the advances being made in diabetes research and was always up to date on the latest scientific breakthroughs. He truly believed in helping anyone who needed it and was a large supporter of Teaching Family Homes. He was truly loved and cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

He is survived by his parents – Kris and Alison Gauthier of Munising; sister and best friend – Katy Gauthier of Munising; brother and best friend – Kalvin Gauthier of Munising; grandparents – Robbie and Robert Gauthier of Kentucky and Kathy and John Nord of Wetmore; great-grandmother – Sue Gauthier of Munising and Florida; nephews – Noah and Oliver; aunts and uncles – Erin Gauthier, Lucas Gauthier, Bill (Heather) Nord, and Melissa (Peter) Carlson, as well as, numerous cousins, and many friends.

Visiting time with family and friends was on Wednesday, December 22nd, from 3 pm-5pm. The visiting time will conclude with a service where friends and family can share memories about Liam. Please wear your favorite band/music, Red Wings or Miami Dolphins attire. If unable to attend, please do something kind for someone in his honor.
