Arlene ‘Tillie’ Fluette

MARQUETTE, MI – Arlene “Tillie” Fluette, 87, of Marquette died Sunday morning, November 14th, 2021, under the care of Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice.

Tillie was born on February 28th, 1934, in Marquette, to the late Bernard and Louise (Diedrich) Richards and was a lifelong area resident. She was a 1951 graduate of Graveraet High School.

On November 28th, 1951, she married Leonard Fluette, at St. Peter’s Cathedral, in Marquette and together they raised their four children. They also opened their home to any relatives and friends who needed help or a place to stay which was many over the course of years.

Tillie was formerly employed at Marquette General Hospital first as a switchboard operator, later as an EKG technician and finally retired from there working in the heart Cath lab.

In her free time, Tillie enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She much enjoyed time on Lake Independence at the family camp, as well as, boating on Lake Superior. She was an avid Green Bay Packers and Detroit Tigers fan and attended many Packer games over the years. She also enjoyed spending winters in Florida after her retirement.

She is survived by three children, Patrick (Sharon) Fluette of Marquette, Susan Beerman of Battle Creek and Marilyn Libick of Big Bay; nine grandchildren, Brian Fluette, Garret Guidebeck, Adam Guidebeck, Tom Fure, Charlie Burridge, Elizabeth Beerman, Dirk Fluette, Tiffany Fluette, and Jessica Fluette; several great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death besides her parents was her husband of 66 years. Leonard; a son, Michael Fluette; sister, Bonnie Elleby; sons-in-laws, Jack Libick and Michael Beerman.

A private service will be held with burial to follow alongside her husband at the Holy Cross Cemetery.
