Michael W. Gerberding
MARQUETTE, MI – Michael Wayne Gerberding, 46, of Marquette, died Saturday, October 16th, 2021, following a longtime battle with mental illness.
He was born March 28th, 1975, in St. Petersburg, Florida, a son of Wayne L. and Linda L. (Roberts) Gerberding. He was a 1993 graduate of Appleton West High School, attended Savannah College of Art & Design and earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
Michael worked as an artisan and craftsman at Artisan Glass in Baltimore, MDm where he designed and created stain glass windows. He also did freelance painting & stain glass work in Savannah, GA and Coventry Glass Works, in Appleton, WI.
His interests included reading, painting, music and walking his beloved dog, Lily around Marquette.
Michael is survived by his mother, Linda L. Gerberding of Gwinn; siblings, Dana Gerberding of Appleton, WI and David Gerberding of Richfield, WI; nephew, Seth Gerberding of Appleton, WI; and numerous aunts, uncles & cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne, aunt, Carole Edelsberg and his canine companion & best friend, Lily.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 22nd, 2021, at 2 pm, in the Gwinn Cemetery. A Celebration of Michael’s Life will follow the graveside service at Canale-Gwinn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, from 2:30 to 4:30 pm.
