Karri Lynne Hamari

HARVEY, MI – Karri Lynne Hamari, age 57, entered eternal life Tuesday, October 19th, 2021, at home, in the loving, comforting care of her family.

Born November 22nd, 1963, in Marquette, a daughter of Donald and Karen (Gentz) Maki, Karri was raised in Marquette and graduated from Marquette Senior High School, Class of 1981. Following graduation, she moved to Florida where she lived for a time before coming back to Marquette. She enrolled at Northern Michigan University where she earned her Masters in Business Administration. Once she had her degree, she began a 33 year career at Marquette General Hospital. Her tenure at the hospital began at the former Marquette General Hospital and continued on to the new UP Health System – Marquette facility. She was a Senior Reimbursement Analyst. In an interview where she was named a healthcare hero, she referred to the fact she greatly enjoyed her work and the very good people she worked with. In her leisure moments, Karri enjoyed reading, working puzzles, watching TV, movies, documentaries, sit-coms, and hockey or baseball, picking wild blueberries, walking, bike riding, and spending time with her dogs, Cleo and Gloria. However, her greatest enjoyment came with being an enthusiastic fan and supporter of her sons’ life endeavors.

Karri is survived by her husband, Kurt, whom she married October 27, 2000; her two sons, Dylan Hamari and Tanner Hamari both of Marquette; her mother, Karen Maki of Marquette; and siblings, Dan (Ginger) Maki and Lori Haapalainen both of Marquette.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Maki; and a sister, Jane Maki.
