Gerald Gene Seymour

RAPID RIVER, MI – Gerald Gene “Jerry” Seymour, age 77, formerly of Rapid River (North Delta), entered eternal life Tuesday morning, October 26th, 2021, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans.

Jerry was born June 21st, 1944, in Escanaba, to Henry, Sr., and Maude (Shepley) Seymour. He graduated from Rapid River High School, Class of 1964. He then went to work for his brother, Marcel, until he entered the US Army where he served from July 13th, 1965 until June 27th, 1967. Following his honorable discharge, he went back to working in the woods until starting a job with Menze Construction Company. Jerry met his wife, Kathy Weber, and the couple were married on January 13th, 1973. They have two children, Lisa Seymour-LaChance of Las Cruces, NM and Shawn (Melissa) Seymour of Marquette; three beautiful grandchildren, MaKayla and Samantha LaChance, and Breannah Seymour. Also surviving are his brother, Henry; a sister-in-law, Donna Seymour; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by brothers, Glen (Janis), Don, Irvin, Marcel (Shirley), and a sister, Dorothy.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Rita Catholic Church, in Trenary, on Friday, November 5th, beginning at 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am, with Rev. William Ssozi, pastor, as celebrant. Interment with veterans honors will follow at the Mathias Township Cemetery. The celebration of Jerry’s life will then continue at the Trenary Community Building with a reception.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and members of the Jacobetti Home for Veterans for their compassionate and professional care of Jerry and for the many friendships formed. Special thanks also for the many kindnesses extended to the family.
