GWINN, MI – Allen Robert Larson, 54, joined his mother in heaven, on October 16th, 2021, after a brief illness. The family appreciates the care provided by the medical staff at U.P. Health System – Marquette.

Allen was born February 7th, 1967 in Marquette, to Robert and Judith (Maunula) Larson. Allen was developmentally disabled and attended special education at various locations throughout his lifetime. During hisyounger years, he had many special teachers, bus drivers, and aides. Allen attended the work center in Marquette for several years, where a special friend, Steve would take him for rides, often traveling to Big Bay or hunting camp for lunch. Allen was blessed to have his parents care for him at home, until he was 50 years old. He resided at the Bay View group home in Gwinn, the last four years. The family would like to thank Rebecca and all the staff for providing exceptional care for Allen.

Allen enjoyed people and had a smile for everyone. He would greet his brother with “hon”, which was short for “hi Jon.” He especially liked having his special friends and relatives visit his home for coffee. He enjoyed having Shirley and Sharon sing “High Ho” to him during a visit or seeing Nancy and her sister, Kay, stop by with Kay’s dog. Allen enjoyed his special friend, Linda, who provided respite care in order to give his parents a night out. One of his favorite activities was to watch the Price Is Right with Bob Barker.

Allen is survived by his father, Robert; his brother, Jon (Tamara) of Marshall, MI; aunt and uncle, Penny (Kenneth) Hewitt of Gwinn; and several cousins.

Allen was preceded in death by his mother, Judith; uncle, Garwood Maunula; and aunts, Norma Noel and Dorothy Haag.
