Nancy R. Milkey

ISHPEMING, MI – Nancy R. Milkey, age 80, of 342 Marquette St., passed away on January 13th, at her home surrounded by her family and her loving husband, while under the care of UP Home Health and Hospice.

Nancy was born on August 28, 1940, to Bruno and Frances “Toots” (Skewis) Tasson. She was a graduate of Ishpeming High School Class of 1958.

Nancy was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Nancy had a passion for home decorating. She enjoyed playing bingo, delivering pizzelles to dear friends and family during the holidays, and keeping the ladies at the Carnegie Library busy finding the latest books. Most of all she loved her children and adored her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Nancy started her career at Wiley Loan, followed by WLUC TV 6 as a receptionist. She received her certification in Home Decorating, and started her career at Pranges/Younkers in the window treatment department and retired from Merricks of Ishpeming.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 26 years, Ronald T. Milkey, daughter: Kristen (Joe) Holm of Marquette, son: John C. Wirtanen of Ishpeming, sister: Joan (Albert) Goodney of Marquette, brother: Eugene (Mary) Tasson of Ishpeming, 4 grandchildren: Ethan (Jackie) LeSage of Little Chute WI, Halie LeSage, Dustin (Izzy Hill) Wirtanen all of Ishpeming, Hunter (Kendall Holley) Wirtanen of Grand Rapids, 3 great- grandchildren: Quinn and Lydia LeSage and Estelle Wirtanen, several nieces and nephews, son-in-law: Kevin LeSage of Ishpeming, an uncle: Robert Skewis of Marquette, and two sister-in-laws, Kathy (John) Nolan of Mosinee, WI and Joanne (George) Nolan of Plover, WI.

Nancy was preceded in death by a son: Micheal Wirtanen, her parents, and brother: Robert Tasson.

Nancy’s family would like to give a special thank you to Rachel at UP Home Health Hospice for keeping Mom comfortable and guiding us through this difficult journey.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Friday January 22, 2021, at 2:00pm, with Fr. Ryan Ford as celebrant. Nancy’s family will greet relatives and friends from 1:00pm until the time of her Mass at 2:00pm.
