Jean Ann Hill

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI – Jean Ann Hill, age 80, of Chocolay Township, entered eternal life Wednesday, January 13, 2021, in Ocala, Florida.

Born February 16, 1940, in Green Garden, a daughter of Ernest and Edna (Zerbel) Reader, Jean was raised in Green Garden and graduated from Graveraet High School, Class of 1958. She acquired her Bachelors of Nursing Degree from Northern Michigan University and a Masters Degree in Nursing from the University of Michigan. During her nursing career, Jean was a NICU nurse and community health nurse before becoming a professor in the Nursing Department at Northern Michigan University, from where she retired in 1997. Following retirement, she and her husband traveled the United States and Virgin Islands until becoming snowbirds in Ocala, Florida in 2004. Jean had a green thumb, often taking suggestions from neighbors for vegetables, and enjoyed spending her summers playing in the dirt. While in Ocala, she enjoyed water aerobics, attending church and Bible class, and exploring Florida.

Jean is survived by her husband, Melvin G. Hill; daughters, Diane K. (Chad E.) Hudson of Salt Lake City, UT and their daughter, Brooke H. Hudson; Carol A. Hill of Jacksonville, FL and her daughter, Aili Hill Adegoke; her brother, Jim Reader of Minnesota and son, Mark Reader; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Kay Reader of Green Garden; nephew, Jeremy (Jaymie) Reader of Marquette and their children, great-nieces, Kaylee and Gabriella Reader; niece, Kelly December of Marquette; great-nephews, Kevin and Kyle December and niece, Denielle Bowen of Marquette; nephew, John December of Milwaukee, WI; nephew, Tim (Wendy) December of Rochester, MI; great-niece, Nicole December; nephew, David (Kim) December of Nebraska.

In addition to her parents and other relatives, Jean was also preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Reader.

Services will be held in Marquette in the spring and will be announced.
