Mildred E. Perry

NEGAUNEE, MI – Mildred E. (Gravedoni) Perry, 87, of Maple St., Negaunee, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, November 26, 2020, at her home with her loving family at her side and under the care of UP Home Health & Hospice.

Mildred was born September 29, 1933, in Princeton, to Charles and Ernestine (Forchini) Gravedoni, attended North Lake School and graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1951. She moved from North Lake to Negaunee after she was united in marriage to Leonard ‘Jim’ Perry on July 28, 1951. Mildred worked as a surgical technician at Marquette General Hospital for 21 years, retiring in 1995.

Mrs. Perry was a devout member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee, and was also a member of Negaunee VFW Auxiliary. Mildred was a loving and devoted homemaker who loved her family and friends immensely.

Surviving are her son, Michael (Sue) Perry of Marquette; two daughters, Toni (Louis) Greene of Marquette and Judy (Glenn) Rigdon of Henderson, NV; seven grandchildren: Danielle (Don) Fortin, Heather Taylor, Shawn Peano, Mark (Coral) Peano, Michael James Perry, Jr., Jenny Rigdon and Melissa (Chris) Connors; nine great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; her sister, Judy Jarvi of Negaunee; five brothers, Charles ‘Clark’ (Patricia), Joseph (Charlotte) and Paul (Peggy) Gravedoni, all of Negaunee, and William (Suann) and Daniel Gravedoni of Crestview, FL; sister-in-law, Joann Perry; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and special friends, Colleen Juidici, Sandra Kontio and Norene Beauchamp.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Leonard ‘Jim’ Perry in 2001; brothers, James and Gerald Gravedoni, along with two infant brothers and sisters, Elizabeth ‘Dolly’ Herman and Adele Hintsala.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 2nd at St. Paul Catholic Church, with Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating. Out of concern for COVID-19 transmission, there will not be an open visitation for the public. Those attending Mass must wear face covering and practice social distancing. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Gravedoni, Judy Jarvi, Paul Gravedoni, Daniel Gravedoni, Michael Perry and Louis Greene. Honorary Pallbearers are Colleen Juidici and Sandra Kontio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Mildred’s memory to Cancer Care of Marquette County or Gillette Children’s Specialty Clinic of St. Paul, MN.
