Albert Persyn

SAGINAW TWP, MI – Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at his home with his wife at his side. Age 85 years old.

The son of the late Albert A. and Gertrude (Walker) Persyn Sr., Albert was born December 14, 1934, in San Francisco, California. He was a 1959 graduate of Oregon State University and subsequent graduate work in Chemical Engineering in 1962. He married Sandra Lee Coots, his loving wife of 44 years, on February 6, 1976. She survives him. He was employed by Georgia Pacific and then Kimberly-Clark for 30 years starting in California, to Georgia in their forest products division with retirement in 1996 in their paper products division from the Munising Mill. Al was an avid waterfowl hunter, fisherman, and fulfilled his retirement dream of sailing the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean with his wife on the “Sandy Lee” for seven years before returning to Michigan. He then had a hobby job helping people working at Home Depot for ten years. Al was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and very active in the Michigan Parkinson’s Foundation participating in their activities.

Surviving besides his wife: Sandra, are three sons and one daughter: William (Angie) Persyn, Buford, Georgia, Albert (Yasuyo) Persyn III, Long Beach, California, Sharon (Eric) Rupert, Duluth, Georgia, Stephen (Christa) Persyn, Freeland, Michigan, eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Al was very proud of his sons, all engineers, and his daughter, a pharmacist.

Albert was preceded in death by his two brothers: Daniel and Michael Persyn.

Honoring Mr. Persyn’s wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place at a later date in Lewiston, California. Due to COVID concerns, no local celebration will occur at this time.
