Irene S. Baldini

ISHPEMING, MI – Irene S. Baldini, age 90, longtime Ishpeming area resident, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility, where she had been a resident for the past 3 years.

Irene was born in Ewen, on January 27, 1930, daughter of the late Sylvia (Hannuksula) and William Hendrickson.

She was a graduate of the Ewen High School, Class of 1948. Irene was the first woman to work on CCI mining property, working as a Supply Clerk for Cleveland Cliffs at the Tilden Mine. She always looked forward to attending the CCI women’s retirement luncheons. Irene enjoyed family activities, especially when it involved her grandchildren. She loved gardening, horseback riding, hiking in the woods, and was an avid reader along with a true animal lover.

Irene is survived by three daughters – Kay (John) Wirtanen of Ishpeming; Jean Drier of Wakefield; and Judy (Bill) Hill of Ishpeming; three sons – Jeff (Vickie) Baldini; Greg (Jackie) Baldini; and Gerald Baldini all of Ishpeming; 11 grandchildren, along with numerous great- grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren, and close friends – Bill and Pauline Grawey.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband – Charles Baldini in 2008, son – Timothy Baldini, son-in-law – Ken Drier and special friend – John Snyder.

UPDATED VENUE – The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00am until 12:00pm on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. with Fr. Ryan Ford to officiating. If attending, face masks are required and respect social distancing guidelines due to current COVID 19 restrictions. Interment will take place at the Evergreen Cemetery in Ewen.

Irene’s family wishes to thank the staff at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility for there kind and compassionate care they had shown to Irene these past 3 years.
