LITTLE LAKE, MI – Dennis G. McLeod, 73, of Little Lake, died Monday morning, September 21, 2020 at home, with his wife by his side and under the care of UP Home Health & Hospice following a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born February 12, 1947, in Escanaba, Michigan, a son of the late Russell and Dorothy (Roberts) McLeod. He attended Gwinn High School and was a 1966 graduate.

Dennis served his country in the US Navy.

He was employed as an electrician at the former KI Sawyer AFB before being transferred to Rudyard to perform the same work for the Army Corp. of Engineers on the Soo Locks.

On July 30, 1983, he married Luella Chaput in Gwinn. The couple recently moved back to Little Lake prior to his passing.

Dennis was a member of the Little Lake American Legion Post 349. He enjoyed horseshoes, hunting, fishing, photography, golfing, camping, pool league and trips to the casino.

He is survived by his wife, Luella McLeod of Little Lake; children, Robin Larson of Little Lake, Fawn Hall and James McLeod; step-children from a previous marriage, Kenny, Vicky, Chad and Michael; 5 grandchildren, Michael, Charles, Eric, Matthews & Patrick and several great-grandchildren and sister, Janet McLeod of Gwinn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Renee Hamblin and brother, Elroy McLeod.

A Celebration of Dennis’ Life will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 beginning at 2 pm at the Little Lake American Legion. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Honor Guard.
