Jean A. Best

ISHPEMING, MI / CAIRO, OH – Jean A (Shealy) Best, 90, fell asleep in death on Friday, August 7, 2020, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming where she had been a resident for 2 1/2 years. Previously, she lived the rest of her life in Lima and Cairo Ohio.

Jean was born on May 8, 1930, to Carlton “Tony” Shealy and Helen (Gilham) Shealy, who preceded her in death. She was married to Leslie “Dusty” Best, who also preceded her in death.

Jean was a homemaker and raised 3 daughters, Deborah (Thomas) Hunt of Elida, Ohio, Toni (Jerome) Anderson of Ishpeming, MI and Rebecca (Ronnie) Newland of Aiken, SC.

Beside her daughters, she is survived by 3 grandchildren: Jeremy Newland of Aiken, SC, also Shawn Hunt and Stephanie McNeely. She is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren: Caylen Mosley of Elida, OH, and Abram Newland and Keely Newland, of Aiken, SC.

Jean was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses for 75 years and enjoyed sharing good news from the Bible whenever she could. Jean enjoyed word and puzzle books. She also enjoyed reading, especially reading and studying the Bible.

Due to Covid, Jean will have a private graveside memorial at Cairo Eastside Cemetery, Cairo Ohio. Online condolences may be expressed at hartmansonsfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UPAWS or the World Wide Work of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
