Barbara D. Ryan

Barbara was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on August 19, 1932, daughter of the late Ada (Cowling) and Albert Demmer. She was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1950. Barb worked as a bank teller at the Miner’s / MFC Bank in Ishpeming for many years. She took her job very seriously, but also enjoyed seeing people throughout her day. Barb enjoyed playing Bridge and Pinochle. She loved time spent at the family camp on Petticoat Lake reading books in the front porch. Barb’s greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She would drive her grandchildren to school every morning and in high school, she would entertain them at her home for lunch. Summers were spent at camp with her grandchildren picking raspberries and grilling steaks. Barb loved her great grandchildren as well. She couldn’t hug them enough and told them always that she loved them. Barb was quick witted and always had a good joke. She will be missed very much.

Barbara is survived by son Randy (Teresa) Ryan of Ishpeming; 2 grandchildren – Gabriel (Sarah) Ryan and Gina Ryan both of Ishpeming, 3 great grandchildren – Lilly, Emma and Samuel; sisters-in-law – Kathy Demmer and Helen Laub. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Ryan, her daughter Gail Brown, a brother Donald Demmer, and her granddaughter Gretchen.

A graveside committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2020 at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
