MARQUETTE, MI – John J. VanDyke, 83, of Harvey, passed away peacefully Friday, July 10, 2020, at his home, surrounded by family and under the care of UP Home Health & Hospice.
John was born on July 10, 1937 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late John and Helen Vera (Pennel) VanDyke.
John worked as a factory worker for Kelvinator in Grand Rapids for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved spending time with his family.
John is survived by his children, John (Glynne Ellen) VanDyke, James VanDyke, Julie Bailey and Joseph VanDyke; brother, James (Cathy) VanDyke; former wife, Patricia Hall; grandchildren, Tina (Richard) Carroll, Tim VanDyke, Scott Bailey, Steven Bailey, Justin (Julie Anne) Bailey, Joshua Steffes, Joseph VanDyke and Angel (Joe) D’Elia; and 14 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his siblings, John Lewis, Bob Lewis, Ruth Lewis Elzinga and Jerry VanDyke.
