Ina Baldwin

SKANDIA, MI – Ina May Baldwin, age 79, of Skandia, passed away at home on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, in the loving care of her family and staff from U.P. Home Health and Hospice.

Born July 26, 1940, in Beaver Grove, a daughter of Joseph and Ina (Wessels) Santamore, Ina was raised in the Beaver Grove area and later moved to Marquette.

In 1966, Ina was united in marriage to Ernest “Homer”ùBaldwin and together the couple established a home and began raising their family. Ina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker who kept busy caring for her family, doing volunteer work, and holding down a job. For several years, she was employed in the Gwinn School System as a lunch lady and custodian. At home, Ina served as a Girl Scout leader, coached Skandia co-ed baseball, was a talented seamstress, raised beagles and poodles, loved to go fishing, and most of all enjoyed spending time with the grandkids. She was a member of the Skandia United Methodist Church (Marquette Hope – Skandia Campus), and belonged to the Red Hat Society. She kept herself busy and became the main caregiver to her husband prior to his death.

Survivors include her five children; Cheryl (Scott) Fassbender of Skandia, Rebecca (Brian) Goodwin, Forest Lake, MN, John (Brenda) Baldwin of Clare, Dennis (Jeane) Baldwin of Clare, and Dorothy (Thomas) Hogan of Mt Pleasant; eleven grandchildren; Julianne, Megan, Zya, Maraissa, Samantha, Abigail, Hannah, Ernest, Talon, Tristen and Cassie Jo; six great-grandchildren; Bentley, Kal-el, Blaklyn, Aribella, Marshall, Augustus; her sisters, Dorothy Rivord of Negaunee and Annabelle (Bob) Dollar-Mayers of Ave Maria, FL; numerous, nieces, and cousins; and her best friend; Lorna Hank.

Ina was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Ernest and five siblings.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Skandia United Methodist Cemetery on Tuesday, July 7, beginning at 1:00 pm followed by graveside services at 2 p.m.
