Don Craig Small

Born May 23, 1951, in Marquette, a son of Donald and Margery (Todish) Small, Don was raised in Marquette and graduated from Marquette Senior High School, Class of 1969. His first employments were with various local businesses before beginning a career as an electrician. Don loved the outdoors and all nature had to offer. He especially enjoyed going to hunting camp, fishing, hunting, and feeding the deer at his home in Big Bay. The outdoors was never too big for Don. He loved snowmobiling and was a member of the 550 Snowmobile Club and participated in the antique snowmobile show.

Don is survived by his mother, Margery Small of Marquette; his significant other, Carol Luft of Big Bay; his two children, Brian (Krystyn) Small of West Ishpeming and Bridgett (Dennis) Karuzas of Iron Mountain; eight grandchildren, Hayley Small, Tyler Small, Olivia Small and Hunter Small, Austin and Emilee Marier, Alina Karuzas and Katy (Adam) Prisk; a great-grandchild, Lena Kurszewski; his sister, Mary (Dennis) Vertanen of Marquette; his brother, Kevin (Kimberly) Small of Wixom, MI; his former wife and friend, Nita Small of Iron Mountain; many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Mark; a niece, Lindsey; and his favorite dog, Snoopy.

Friends may call at Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Monday, July 13, beginning at 10:30 am until 12:30 pm. Private family services will be held and interment will be made in the Park Cemetery.

Masks are encouraged, social distancing will be practiced, and no reception will be held.
