Randall Steven Smith

STURGEON BAY, WI – Randall Steven Smith, 59, passed away Friday, April 10, 2020 at his home of an apparent heart attack.

He was born January 3, 1961 in Marquette, Michigan to Raymond and Mary Karen (Kroken) Smith. Randy graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 1979 and received his certification in welding from the Jacobetti Skills Center. He spent the majority of his life working as a shipbuilder at Marinette Marine, then Sturgeon Bay Shipbuilding until a shoulder injury forced him to go on disability.

In his younger years, Randy was an avid hockey player, but was probably best known as a champion Guts Frisbee player. He played for Team 151, The Bad Apples, JT’s Shaft and won the 1989 International Frisbee Tournament with the Where-Day-Go team. Randy was also a huge fan of the Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Lions, which made living near Green Bay a challenge. Randy was a caring, fun and unique person and will be greatly missed by many.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, George and Jenny Smith and Don and Eileen Kroken; and uncles, Leo Koval and Mick Smith. He is survived by his brother, Scott (Debbie Aro) Smith of Marquette; and niece, Amber (Isaac Jorgensen) Smith of Jacksonville, FL. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, Joyce Koval, Penny Smith, Joan (Harvey) Press, Cherie (Doug) Garrison and Donny (Tracy) Kroken; numerous much loved cousins; and best friends, Joe Thomann of Marquette and Diane and Mark of Sturgeon Bay.

Services will be scheduled at a later date.
