ISHEPMING, MI – Jean J. Frederickson, age 91, long time Ishpeming resident, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee where she has resided for the past 3 1/2 years.

Jean was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on December 23, 1928, a daughter of the late Ethel (Tippett) and Charles Peterson. Jean married Lloyd Frederickson on February 21, 1948, who through out her life, she was a loyal companion too.

Early in her adult life Jean worked at the H.W. Gossard Company, Ecklund Laundry and the Newberry Dime Store until she started her family.

Jean and her husband Lloyd were one of the founding members of NORTHIRON Church (Assembly of God). They helped construct the original church in National Mine along with the construction of the church’s current location. While serving beside her husband, she was active in the choir, and was known for her hospitality, entertaining many guests at her home.

Jean’s best times were visiting with family and friends, especially being around her grandchildren.

Jean is survived by 3 sons: Douglas (Jean) Frederickson, Thomas (Helen) Frederickson, both of Ishpeming; and Gregory (Nina) Frederickson, of Negaunee, a sister, Marjorie Richards of Marquette, 6 Grandchildren: Sarah (Gale) Bott, Thomas C. (Krystal) Frederickson, Neil (Brittany Vernier) Frederickson, Laura (Anthony) Tonge, Caitlin (Jeffrey) Woodward, Seth (Jessica) Frederickson, 10 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and sister in law, Ellen Parkkonen of Ishpeming.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lloyd, sisters: Eleanor Hebert, Marion Roberts, Carol Fortin, Joyce Brunelle, and Irene Peterson, brothers: twin brother Edward, Raymond, Wesley, and Louis.

Jean’s family will greet relatives and friends from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesday March 17, 2020 at the NORTHIRON Church in Ishpeming where funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. with Jeffrey Woodward and Mark Broberg officiating. A luncheon will follow.

Pallbearers will be Jean’s grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Eastwood Nursing Center for the exceptional care given to Jean.
