Donald Beck

ISHPEMING, MI – Donald F. “Don” Beck, age 68, of Ishpeming, entered eternal life Saturday, March 7, 2020, at U.P. Health System-Marquette, in the loving care of his family.

Born July 21, 1951, in Flint, a son of Frederick Edmond and Grace Ann (Sparks) Beck, Don grew up in the Flint area and attended the local schools. When he was in high school, the family relocated to Ishpeming and Don graduated from Ishpeming High School in 1970. Don moved to Milwaukee where he worked as a machinist and fabricator with Milwaukee Valve Company for 15 years. Returning to Ishpeming, Don was employed in the recycling business with Kallioinen Scrap Metal Recycling. Don was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. Throughout the years, he belonged to several bowling leagues at the Ishpeming River Rock Lanes, loved watching sports, and was an enthusiastic fan of the Packers and Tigers. However, he mostly loved spending time with this children and grandchildren and especially enjoyed when the younger children in the family called him “Pop-Pop”. The Big Boy was his favorite place to go and eat and he could often be found there enjoying breakfast.

Don is survived by six daughters, Kelly (Zach) Korpi of L’Anse, Samantha Beck of Marquette, Sara (Austin) Collins of Grayson, KY, Lydia Beck of Negaunee, Michelle Aquaino of Milwaukee, WI, and Rachelle Beck of Queens, NY; five grandchildren, Landon and Jeb Korpi, Aurora Beck, Isaac and Malorie Collins; four sisters, Donna Beck of Ishpeming, Debra Lucas of Ishpeming, Pam (Rick) Kallioinen of Negaunee, and Denise Beck of Flint; two brothers, Dave (Lorri) Beck of Gladstone and Dwayne Beck of Flint; his step-father, Lloyd Jarvi of Negaunee; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Edmond Beck and Grace Ann (Sparks) Jarvi, and a sister, Kimberly.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the caregivers at UP Health System-Bell and ICU nurses at UP Health System-Marquette for their compassionate and professional care and the many kindnesses extended to the family.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Thursday, March 12, beginning at 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm Thursday afternoon.

A reception will follow in the reception room located at the funeral home.
