CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI – Chester “Ted” Miller, of Chocolay Township, entered eternal life Saturday February 15, 2020 at his home.

Ted was born on July 29, 1939 in Streator, IL to George and Hazel (Hamilton) Miller. He was raised in Streator, IL and was a graduate of Woodland High School Class of 1958. Following graduation, Ted’s sense of adventure led him to Alaska where he started working in the Airline Industry with brief stops in Oklahoma, Colorado and Kansas beforehand. Ted and his family spent three years in Alaska before moving back to their home state of Illinois where he worked at J&L Steel. His love of the outdoors then lured him to Marquette where he found employment with Cleveland Cliffs. On October 12, 1984, Ted married Diane Martin who was the love of his life. Ted resumed his career in the Airline Industry working for Simmons Airline, American Airlines and Envoy Airlines until his retirement. Ted was an avid reader who loved watching sports, especially the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, NMU Wildcats and the Marquette Redmen. Ted loved hunting, fishing, four wheeling and all of the great outdoors. Most of all, Ted cherished the time spent with his family and grandchildren. He truly loved every aspect of watching his grandchildren’s events.

Survivors include his seven children, Victor (Mary Ann) Miller of St. Charles, Missouri, Tierra (Bobby) Booth of Negaunee, Steve (Sharon) Mahan of Gwinn, Dave (Julie) Mahan of Harvey, Dr. Brad (Linda) Miller of Lino Lakes, MN, Todd (Margaret Rogers) Miller of Ishpeming and Brandi (Wayne) Goodwin of Beaver Grove; 24 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Dorliss St. John, Leah (Ed) Nolan and Georgia (Ed) Kolesar, his infant son, Teddy, Jr. and his wife, Diane.

Friends may call at the Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral & Cremation Service on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm with a celebration of life held at 4:00 pm.
