Alsid L. “Al” Rivord

Al was born January 24, 1935, in Marquette, a son of Lawrence and Mildred (Washburn) Rivord, was raised in Marquette and attended the local schools.

On August 29, 1953, Al married the former Dorothy Santamore. He began his working career first locally at Snyder’s Saw Mill and later at Celotex in L’Anse. He later returned to Negaunee Township and began a long career with Cleveland Cliffs as an electrical foreman at the Empire Mine until his retirement. In retirement, Al obtained his CDL license and drove semi-trucks for a few years working for many trucking businesses in the area. Al was an avid deer hunter and loved to fish on Lake Superior, taking many voyages to Stannard Rock. Al and Dorothy enjoyed fishing together and, in earlier years, enjoyed riding his Gold Wing motorcycle and going snowmobiling.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Dorothy; his three children, Mike (Julie) Rivord of Negaunee, Vicky (Jim) Beltrame of Ishpeming, and Joe (Cindy) Rivord of Skandia; grandchildren, Kristi (Ray) Maki of Negaunee Township, Mark (Lori) Rivord of Negaunee, Eric (Jessica) Rivord of Negaunee Township, Michelle (Andy) Lusardi of Ishpeming, James (Toni) Beltrame of Green Bay, WI, McKayla Rivord of Gwinn, Maddison Rivord of Skandia; three great-grandchildren, Zackery Maki of Farmington Hills, Preston Maki of Negaunee Township, and Haley Rivord of Negaunee Township; his brother, Wayne (Susan) Rivord of Coldwater; a sister, Gloria Pennock of California; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Larry Rivord and Clyde Rivord.

Honoring his request, no public services will be held.
