Nellie A. Maddock

ISHPEMING, MI – Nellie A. Maddock, age 94, lifelong Ishpeming resident, passed away, Sunday, January 12, 2020 at her home while in the loving care of her family and Lake Superior Life and Hospice.

Nellie was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on September 15, 1925, a daughter of the late George and Lettie (Mullen) Beauchamp.

Nellie was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, was very involved with her class reunions over the years.

Nellie worked in the billing office at Bell Memorial Hospital for many years, was a switch board operator for Bell Telephone and was a cook at the Nation Mine School.

Nellie was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where she was active in many church activities, including the altar guild, soup luncheon and was one of the “Goodbye Girls”– the ladies that provided the funeral luncheons. Although church was a very important part of her life, her family was always first. She would do anything for anyone always putting their needs before hers. Her close-knit neighborhood will not be the same with her.

Nellie is survived by a daughter, Donnette (Robert) Paige, of Sparta, MI; a son, Ronald (Joellyn Kay), of Ishpeming, 8 grandchildren; Lisa (Mark) Junak, Ron (Michelle) LaForest, Erik (Lisa) Johnson, Kim (Chris) Hawkins, Chad (Sarah) Johnson, Michael (Ashley) Maddock, Lindsey Maddock, Amanda Paige, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, son-in law Peter (Kay) Johnson, along with several nieces and nephews.

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald Maddock, a daughter Trudy Johnson, 1 brother and 3 sisters.

Nellie’s family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00 am – 12:00 noon on Monday, January 20, 2020 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where a memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon with Rev. Stacy Pethke officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.

Memorials may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church (Altar Guild) in memory of Nellie.
