Edla Lepola

MARQUETTE, MI – Edla Esther Lepola, age 92, of Marquette, entered eternal life early Monday morning, January 13, 2020, at Trillium Hospice House in Marquette.

Born June 25, 1927, in Watton, a daughter of Jacob and Edla (Salo) Ketola, Esther was raised in Watton and graduated from L’Anse High School, Class of 1945. On December 27, 1947, she was united in marriage to Raynold A. Lepola, and throughout the years the couple resided in many places. They moved back to the Upper Peninsula in 1968, making Marquette their home. For several years, Esther was employed with Burrough’s Manufacturing in quality control. Conscientious and creative, Esther enjoyed artwork, especially oil paintings, sewing, working jigsaw puzzles, and was an avid reader. A very involved member of the Eastwood Apostolic Lutheran Church in Negaunee, Esther was active in nursing home ministries and especially the Eastern Mission Federation.

Esther is survived by her sister, Dagnie Carlson; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raynold A. Lepola in 2009; sisters, Tyne, Linda, Dagmar, and Ruth; and brothers, Victor Arthur, Carl, Rueben, Ralph, and Reino.

Funeral services with interment will be scheduled for spring and will be announced at a later date.
