Peter Filizetti

ISHPEMING, MI – Peter J. Filizetti, age 88, longtime Ishpeming resident, passed away on Thursday December 5, 2019 at his home, while in the loving care of his family and Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice.

Peter was born in Princeton, MI on September 28, 1931 son of the late Joseph and Eufrizina (Contamessa) Filizetti. He grew up in Princeton and moved to the Ishpeming in 1953 when he married Germaine Hebert.

Peter was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming, he enjoyed going to the McDonalds coffee clutch, loved hunting, fishing, and his favorite place in the world, his hunting camp. He loved riding his fourwheeler, going to all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events, woodworking in his garage, and most of all, spending time with his family.

Peter is survived by 4 children- John (Cindy) Filizetti, Sandy (Bruce) Asgaard, Mike (Ann) Filizetti, Lisa (Jeremy) Ring, 8 grandchildren- Amy (Matt) Peters, Jonel (Marcus) Nelson, Danielle Asgaard, Chad (Tara) Asgaard, Ashley Asgaard, Craig (Pam) Filizetti, Jason Filizetti, Rylee Ring, 11 great grandchildren- Matthew, Madalynn, Marshall, Maxwell, Drake, Ava, Gianna, Makayla, Makenna, Quintin, Dominic, along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife- Germaine (Hebert) Filizetti, 7 siblings- John, Hugo, Geno, Angie, Bruno, Reno, Mary, grandson- Ryan Filizetti, and his faithful companion- Dusty.

Peter’s family will greet relatives and friends at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming on Sunday December 8th, 2019 from 1:30pm until 3:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:30pm with Rev. Fr. Ryan Ford celebrating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.

Honorary pallbearers will be Peter’s grandsons and great grandsons- Craig, Chad, Jason, Drake, Matthew, and Quinton.

Peter’s family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregivers and the staff at Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice for their excellent care over the last 8 months. Through their loving care they made Peter’s final wishes of being at home possible.
