GLADSTONE, MI – John M. Caldwell, age 80, of Gladstone, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home in Lombard, IL on Wednesday, December 4, 2019.

John was born January 21, 1939, in Escanaba, MI, the son of Martin and Irene (Cassell) Caldwell. John graduated from Gwinn High School. He enlisted in the United States Airforce in 1957. He served two tours in Vietnam. He retired in 1977 in KI Sawyer and went to work for the Tilden Mine for 25 years. John was united in marriage to Carol Ann Eagle on June 12, 1965 in Gladstone. Carol preceded John in death in 2008.

John was a member of the Gladstone American Legion. Hen enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoyed watching the San Francisco 49’ers. Preferably whichever team was winning. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

John is survived by: 2 Sons: John (Katrina Williams) Jr. of Marquette, MI, Chad Caldwell of Gladstone, MI, 2 Daughters: Brenda Ruatti of Escanaba, MI, Stephanie (Victor) Decastro of Lombard, IL. 2 Brothers: Melvin ( Gagnon of Gladstone, MI, Marvin Gagnon of Gladstone, MI. 1 Sister: Elaine Pepin of Escanaba, MI. 7 Grandchildren: Brianna (Dave) Viorel, Matthew Decastro, Alex Ruatti, Mason Caldwell, Makayla Caldwell, Michael Kopsi, and Joy Williams. 3 Great Grandchildren: Rileigh, Jackson Pecora, and Atticus Viorel. And many Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

In addition to his Parents, John is preceded in death by: Wife: Carol Ann Caldwell, Daughter in law: Joanne Caldwell and Many Brothers and Sisters.

Family will receive friends Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 11:30 until 1:30 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Gladstone American Legion Post 71 will present military honors at 1:30 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 2:00 PM at the All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone with Rev. Fr. Jamie Ziminski officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Gladstone American Legion.
