ISHPEMING, MI – Bernice Dymond, age 88, of Ishpeming passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2019, while in the loving care of her family and the Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice while at the home of her daughter Lynn’s in Humboldt.

Bernice was born, in Ishpeming, on May 18, 1931, daughter of the late Bessie and Iver Asgaard. Bernice grew up in Ishpeming and married the late Kenneth M. Dymond on September 19. 1949. Together they raised 7 children, with Bernice loving taking on the role of homemaker until her children were old enough to care for themselves when she became a cook at the Congress in Ishpeming for a few years.

Bernice enjoyed camping, along with the annual trip to deer camp for the family spaghetti dinner. She loved to play various card games including poker, canasta and cribbage along with trips to the local casino.

Bernice cherished being with her children and grandchildren and loved all her animals throughout her lifetime including her current pets, Sassy and TJ and her bird, Sunshine.

Bernice is survived by four daughters – Sandra McMahon of Marquette; Lynn (Dave Warshawsky) Dymond of Humboldt; Barbara (James) Donato of Ishpeming; Debbie (Michael) Massie of Republic; two sons – Richard (Lorelei) Dymond of Ishpeming; Ronnie (Lisa Brahan) Dymond of National Mine; a sister, Shirley Pizziola, of Ishpeming; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, along with great-great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Dymond Sr. in 1993; a son Kenneth “Biddo” Dymond Jr. in 2013, a son-in-law – Pat McMahon; sisters – Lorraine Annala, Marie Dobson, Florence Aho, June Dobson; and brothers – Ever Asgaard and Robert “Bobby” Asgaard.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 12:00 until 2:00PM on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 2:00PM with the Rev. Matt Osborne to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
