CHAMPION, MI – Michael H. MacLachlan, 75, of Champion, passed away Saturday morning, November 9, 2019, at his home.

Mike was born on May 14, 1944 at Bay City, Michigan, a son of the late Howard and Helen (Mahoney) MacLachlan and was a 1962 graduate of Handy High School in Bay City. Following his graduation, Mike proudly served his country with the United States Navy on the USS Francis Marion 1963 -68. Following his discharge from the Navy, Mike returned to Bay City where he became employed with Michigan Bell Telephone. He retired from AT&T in their marketing and sales department and then operated a small beef farm in Trenary for several years prior to moving to Lake Michigamme where he resided until his death.

Mike is survived by his wife, the former Karen Cook who he married on January 11, 1975 in Prudenville, Michigan; two daughters, Christa Cook and her son, Anthony Chiaurro of St. Louis, MO; Linda (Chris) Martin and their children, Brock and Heather Martin of Raleigh, NC; one sister, Marcia Riffel of Saginaw, MI; his mother-in-law, Pauline Cook, of Prudenville, MI; also numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Mike in death besides her parents was his father-in-law, Robert Cook and a brother-in-law, Richard Riffel.

Per Mike’s wishes, there will be no services at this time.
