MICHIGAMME TWP., MI – Leighton R. “Bud” Carlisle II, age 84, Michigamme Township resident passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at his home while in the loving care of his family and UP Home Health and Hospice.

Leighton was born January 27, 1935, in Interior Twp. (Trout Creek), MI to the late; Leighton D. Carlisle and Selma (Thompson) Johnson.

Bud started work on his 17th Birthday at Abbott-Fox Lumber Mill in Trout Creek until closing in 1969. He moved with his wife to Michigamme in 1970 and worked at Mead Corporation and Kimberly Clark of Michigamme until they closed. The last employment Bud had was for Don’s Deluxe Homes.

In Bud’s early years he enjoyed riding his horses on his farm in Trout Creek. Bud also enjoyed singing, dancing, and listening to music and playing his harmonica. Bud also liked hunting and fishing, and watching Westerns and comedies shows.

Bud mostly loved spending time with his family playing with grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He loved being with his dog “Daisy”.

Bud is survived by his wife; Joan A. (Olson) Carlisle, whom he married on August 2, 1969, 3 children: Leighton “Jim” (Jean) Carlisle III of Humboldt Twp., Catherine E. (Robert) Taylor of Chatham and Sally Jo (Joseph) Stoddard of Lake City, MI, grandchildren: Tristan Hurkmans, Cheyenne (Dan Oswald) Taylor, Tobi Taylor, Zack (Lisa) Taylor, Bree (Adam) Galloway, Kaci (Tony) Flaugher, and Katrina (Matt) Zumpf, great- grandchildren: Luke and Zoe Taylor, Autumn and Elijah Flaugher, Penelope Denman, Kallahan Oswald, Cole Brownell, Jagger Galloway, Anistaisa and Sophia Zumpf, a brother: Milton (Pat) Albaugh, a sister, Lois Perttula, brother-in-law, Paul (Virginia) Olson and many nieces and nephews.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Dale Carlisle, Melvin Johnson and Rened Tooley, sisters: Marjorie Elsner, Elizabeth Dishaw and Evelyn Moffitt, brothers-in-law: Wilbert Perttula and John Olson.

Bud’s family will greet relatives and friends on Friday November 8, 2019, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM, at the Woodland Untied Methodist Church in Michigamme where at memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM with Pastor Peter Lemoine to officiate. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.

Inurnment will take place at the Lakeview Cemetery in Michigamme.

The family would like to thank UP Home Health and Hospice and Michigamme First Responders, and neighbors, especially John Koski for all their help.
