Lois A. Wachter

NAUBINWAY, MI – Lois A. Wachter, 88, of Naubinway, died Friday morning September 13, 2019 at McLaren Hiland Cottage Hospice House in Petoskey.

Born September 9, 1931 in Rapinville, daughter of the late Emmet J. and Genevieve C. (Belleville) Vallier, Lois was a 1949 graduate of Engadine High School and married Donald H. Wachter on June 2, 1951 in Naubinway. During her lifetime, Lois was a devoted homemaker raising her family residing in St. Ignace and Gwinn prior to her husband’s retirement and moving back to Naubinway. Lois was a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, enjoyed spending her winter months at the seasonal residence in Punta Gorda, FL, gardening, crocheting, sewing and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Lois is preceded in death by her husband Donald on October 23, 2012 and sister Yvonne Rieckmann.

Survivors include her children Deborah (Gordon) Boucha of Gaines, Susan (Marshall) Walker of Traer, Iowa and James (Sandra) Wachter of Gladstone; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; siblings Iona Shoemaker of Naubinway, John (Rita) Vallier of Naubinway, Genevieve Wachter of Naubinway, Betty (Rich) Wachter of Cheboygan and Oliver Vallier of Ann Arbor; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Naubinway on Monday September 16, 2019 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm with a prayer service at 5:30 pm. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday September 17, 2019 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at 11:00 am at the church with Fr. Marty Flynn officiating. Rite of Committal will follow at Naubinway Cemetery.
