BOISE, ID – Kacie Fostermerk, 42 years old of Boise, Idaho (originally of West Ishpeming, MI) peacefully passed away with family and friends at her side, on August 25th 2019 in Boise, Idaho. She was born in Marquette, Michigan on June 7th 1977. She grew up in the Upper Peninsula and graduated from Westwood High School (1995) She attended Northern Michigan University, studying public relations. She worked at Bay Cliff Health Camp which was special to her. She enjoyed life in the U.P. She joined the Michigan and Idaho Army National Guard in 1996 until 2010. While in Idaho, she worked/volunteered for the VA, had a small event planning business and was part of many organizations. Including but not limited to, Special World Olympic Games, Lacrosse, Ski School and was involved in many fundraisers and charity events.

She is survived by her special son Chance Fostermerk of Boise Idaho, Mother Micki Strand (Bruce) of Munising MI, Father Keith Foster, Grandmother Dorothy Foster of Gladwin MI, Grandmother Dorothy Merk of East Lansing MI, brother Ryan Foster (Michelle Grund) of Ypsilanti MI, brother Andrew Foster (Erica Wilson) of Seattle, WA and sister Mollie Brown(Brock) of Boise, Idaho. Special nieces Reese and a new baby girl on the way. Numerous extended family and friends. Her special pets Libby and Lexie were always at her side.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather George Merk of East Lansing, MI.

She was a strong, outgoing, loving, independent, giving, free spirit who touched and made a difference in so many peoples lives. She was a light hearted, fun person. She loved gardening, camping, rafting, traveling, skiing, throwing parties and most of all being with her son. She enjoyed living life to the fullest and had a great sense of adventure. She did not let her illness get her down. She would always try to help each person be the best versions of themselves. She will be forever missed by family and friends. She was an exceptional and loving mother to Chance. A Celebration of Life is to be held in Boise, Idaho Sept 28 at Sandy Point State Park at Lucky Peak 12-6 and at a later date in Marquette (tentatively next summer by Lake Superior).
