Joan Hill
NEGAUNEE, MI – Joan Kae (Maki) Hill, 71, of Negaunee, passed away unexpectedly Sunday evening, August 4, 2019 at UP Health System – Marquette while in the care of her loving family.
Joan was born October 31, 1947 in Marquette to Martin ‘Spike’ and Georgine (Rolstone) Maki, grew up in Greenwood Location and attended Ishpeming Schools. She was employed at Eklund’s Laundry in Ishpeming and also worked in the cafeteria for Negaunee Public Schools. Joan married the late Paul Hill at Wesley United Methodist Church in Ishpeming before they moved to Negaunee and later settled in Richmond Township.
In her free time, Joan loved watching TV while enjoying a cold Diet Coke. She loved her family and often went for dinner with her beloved twin sister, Judy. She was also selfless when it came to caring for her mom at her home in Greenwood Location.
Surviving are her twin sister, Judy Reichel of Negaunee and two special nieces, Linda (Gus) Livermore and Ashley (Alex) Dobbs, both of Negaunee; along with numerous other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Paul D. Hill in 1991; an infant daughter; and her brother, Jerry Maki.
Honoring Joan’s wishes, private family services will be held. Burial will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery.
