Haylee Maree Martin AKA Haley Renee Curtis

She was born on September 12, 1988 in Adrian, Michigan and at the age of 6 was adopted and remained a lifelong resident of the U.P.

Haylee attended Marquette Public Schools graduating in 2006.

She was a member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Tribe of Baraga, Michigan. Haylee lived fast and played hard, but the two brightest moments in her life were her daughters.

Survivors include her daughters, Emma Grochocky and Kendra Martin; her mother, Deborah Heagle of North Carolina and father, Cam (Pat) Martin of Marquette; her brother, Scott (Sue) Martin of Ishpeming and sister, Cayhra Martin; step-sister, Anna (Scott) Durant of Marquette and step-brother, Ted A. Martin II of Negaunee; maternal grandmother, Roxie Sutton of Bullhead City, AZ; paternal grandmother, Clarice Martin of Marquette; also numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, August 10th from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Assinnins Cemetery in Baraga.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Harbor House, 245 W. Baraga Ave., Marquette, MI 49855, Room at the Inn, 347 Rock St., Marquette, MI 49855 or to Janzen House, 146 W. Spring St., Marquette, MI 49855 in Haylee’s memory.
