Gary L. Basal

Born April 28, 1942, in Marquette, the son of Laurence and Elsie (Rosin) Basal, Gary was raised in North Marquette and graduated from Graveraet High School, Class of 1960. Following graduation, he began a long working career as a mechanic, beginning at local area garages and ultimately retiring from Pomp’s Tire in Marquette. Gary was known as a Mr. Fix-It who could fix and repair anything. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and dancing. He was also the best supporter and fan at his kids and grandchildren’s hockey games.

Gary is survived by his three children, Greg Basal of Marquette, Vicki Finner of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Darrell (Mandy) Basal of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; five grandchildren; two sisters, Sharon Basal of Green Bay, Wisconsin and Janice Betts of Marquette; and his dance partner, Diana Peterson of Marquette.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Miles Basal.

Honoring Gary’s request, no public services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of donor’s choice.
