Bruce Bartle

NEGAUNEE, MI – Bruce Paul Bartle, 76, of Negaunee, passed away Tuesday morning, July 30, 2019, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility.

Bruce was born August 20, 1942, in Ishpeming to Cecil and Minnie (Golder) Bartle and attended school in Negaunee where he remained a lifelong resident.

He was employed with the Laborer’s International Union of North America (LiUNA), Local 1329 of Iron Mountain until being injured at age 42.

Bruce was a loving family man, and was a proud supporter of Negaunee and Ishpeming sports, especially enjoying watching his grandchildren compete. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers and Michigan Wolverines fan.

Bruce enjoyed painting, cutting grass for his neighborhood friends and family, and was proud of beautifying ‘Bartle Park’ in downtown Negaunee where you could often find him on his riding lawnmower.

Surviving are his two sons: Scott (Jan) and Terry (Julie) Bartle, both of Ishpeming; two daughters: Vicki (Jim) Bertrand of Panama City, FL and Laurie (Dave) Makela of Negaunee; seven grandchildren: Ashley, Scott, Jr. and Natalie Bartle; Dalton (Alex) and Quinton Bertrand; Dustin and Hunter Wirtanen and Zachary Makela; his brother, Delwood (Marsha) Bartle of Negaunee; sister, Julaine Ombrello of Ishpeming; a special lifelong friend, William Dowe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Margaret (Kivisto) Bartle in 2003; four brothers: John, Wayne, Keith and Lee Bartle; and one sister, Roselyn Bartle.

Honoring Mr. Bartle’s wishes, a private family celebration will be held. For those considering memorial contributions, please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association in his memory.

Bruce’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staffs in the Cardiac Care Unit at UP Health System in Marquette and also at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility for the wonderful care provided.
