Paul Martin Wilson, Sr.

MARQUETTE, MI — Paul Martin Wilson, Sr., age 83, of Marquette, entered eternal life Sunday, July 7, 2019, at home, in the loving, comforting care of his family and Lake Superior Hospice.

Born June 6, 1936, in Marquette, a son of Martin and Clara (Peterson) Wilson, Paul was raised in Marquette and graduated from Graveraet High School, Class of 1954. Following graduation, he started peddling papers with his route consisting of 205 customers. He began an apprenticeship as a machinist and began a long employment with Lake Shore, Inc. beginning in 1952. In 1959, Paul enlisted in the US Army, serving his country until 1961, remaining inactive until 1965. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Marquette and resumed employment with Lake Shore, retiring in 1990. Paul was an avid Model A car enthusiast, restoring cars and attending car shows and car clubs. He was a member of the Marquette Superior A’s Model A Club, Model A Club of America, life member of the Yankee Air Museum in Belleville, Michigan, and Marquette Hope United Methodist Church in Skandia.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Virginia “Ginnie” (Rosin) Wilson, whom he married September 2, 1972; five children, Paul (Gina) Wilson of Skandia, Wendy (Randall) Pitts of Green Bay, WI, Diana “Dino” (Shelly) McIntire of Skandia, Melissa (Arvid) Ames of Tomahawk, WI, and Timothy (Carla) McIntire of Beaver Grove; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister, Dorothy (Don) Kristola of Skandia; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his canine pal and companion, Zephyr.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Wilson.

Friends may call at Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Friday, July 12, beginning at 11 am until the time of services at noon. Rev. Christopher Hintz will officiate and veterans honors will be accorded. A reception will follow in the reception room located at the funeral home.
