Paul Lucas

MARQUETTE, MI – Paul J. Lucas, age 76, of Marquette, walked on into eternity Saturday, June 29, 2019, at UP Health System – Marquette.

Born November 22, 1942, in Marquette, a son of John and Marion (Bressette) Lucas, Paul was raised in Marquette and graduated from Graveraet High School in 1961. Throughout the years, Paul was employed with Cliff Dow Chemical Company, Vollwerths, and finally with the State of Michigan at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans for 25 years, retiring in 2006. He served in the Michigan National Guard for seven years and was activated in 1967 during the Detroit riots. Paul was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, a loyal Detroit Red Wing, Lions, and Tigers fan, loved music, especially the Rolling Stones, and enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels that frequented his yard.

Survivors include his brother, Mike “Mickey” Lucas of Beaver Grove; his nephew, Christopher (Darcey) Lucas; his niece, Nicole Lucas; great-nephew and great-niece, Bowden Lucas and Madison Pohlman; his step-children, Harold Robinson of Engadine and Amy Hyppolite of Lombard, IL; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; and his pets, Lukey and Tucker.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marilyn; a sister-in-law, Darlene Lucas; and a nephew, Michael Lucas.

Friends may call at St. Michael Catholic Church on Friday, July 5, beginning at 10:30 am.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon Friday with Rev. Greg Heikkala, pastor, as celebrant. A reception will follow in the Parish Center. Interment will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gordon Stack, Richard Schwenke, Lois Bressette, and Paul Bressette.
