George Billings

LITTLE LAKE, MI – George H. Billings, age 67, of Little Lake and former Marquette resident, entered eternal life Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans, in the loving care of his sister, Joyce, and caregivers of D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans.

George was born February 17, 1952, in Marquette, a son of Leonard John and Armande Jean (LaBlanc) Billings and was raised in Marquette. He attended the local schools and ran track while at Marquette Senior High School. He left school at age 17 and at 18 entered the US Army. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, receiving an honorable medical discharge before returning to Marquette. He had resided in Little Lake for the past five years.

In his leisure moments, George enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching football on TV, specially the Packers, and was a fan of the Red Wings.

George was a member of Little Lake American Legion Post 349.

Survivors include his sister, Joyce (Larry) Dagenais of Marquette; brothers, Dany (Diane) Billings of Bullhead, AZ and Frank (Robin) Billings of Appleton, WI; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; special cousins, Tim and Ruth Contois of Skandia; good friend, Tori Chiconsky of Little Lake; and his feline companion, Little George. George was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Billings.

Graveside services, with veterans honors, will be held at Northland Chapel Gardens on Friday, July 5, at 10:00 am.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the Staff and residents of the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans for their compassionate care and many kindnesses extended to George and his family.
