Genevieve ‘Jenny’ E. Fetterhoff

TRENARY, MI – Genevieve “Jenny” E. Fetterhoff, age 91, of Trenary, died Monday, July 15, 2019 at UP Health Systems – Marquette following a brief illness.

She was born in Sanborn Township, MI on January 20, 1928 to the late Albert and Cora (Watkins) Fetterhoff. Jenny grew up in Ossineke and then her family moved to many places across the Lower Peninsula following her father’s work. He worked for many farms and did construction where Jenny would tag along and help with little odd jobs. In 1946, the family moved to the U.P. landing in Traunik and then Trenary in 1953. Jenny began working in homes as a nanny and would sell Avon and dresses through Fashion Frocks door-to-door. She then was hired at the Trenary Bakery and worked as baker for over thirty years when she retired in 1991. Jenny enjoyed crossword puzzles, Yahtzee, solitaire, reading, and listening to Elmer Aho on the radio every Saturday night. She also loved family gatherings and spending time with nieces and nephews calling herself the “fifth wheel”. Her nephew Doyle lovingly gave her the nickname “Meatball” a tradition many nieces and nephews still continued today. Jenny found it to be important to continue to send letters in the mail and that it was therapeutic to send and receive a hand written note.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews – Ruth Brisson, Maggie Lasofsky, Carol Latvala, Nancy, Dale, Dean, Darryl (Gail), Doyle, and Cora Bush, and many other dear nieces and nephews; dear friends Mary Lou Trudell and Roselle Taskey; and Pam and Tony Stone who she loved like children.

Jenny was preceded in death by her parents – Albert and Cora; siblings – Albert Fetterhoff, Vera Fetterhoff, Bonnie Smith, Alice Fetterhoff, Junior Allen Fetterhoff, Ilene Cora Cayer, Velda Koning, Beatrice Neff, Raymond Fetterhoff, Arthur Fetterhoff, and Royce Fetterhoff; and nephews – Kent Bush and Dennis Bush.

A memorial service will be held at Jenny’s home at E4043 June Rd. (Rapid River 49878), on Friday, August 16, 2019. Pastor Sandra Kolder will conduct prayers beginning at 2:00 p.m. followed by visiting time until 5:00 p.m. Jenny’s obituary and online guestbook may be viewed and signed at bowermanfune ralhome.net
