Dale Talus

Dale was born April 3, 1942, in Richmond Township, to Otto and Lucille (Rock) Talus and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1961. He married Barbara Maki in September of 1963 and they enjoyed 50 years together until her passing in 2013.

Mr. Talus was employed as a welder for Cleveland Cliffs, retiring in 1997 after 33 years of service with the company. Following retirement, he worked for 14 years with the Negaunee Housing Commission. Dale was an avid golfer and was proud of his two holes-in-one while he was a member of Wawanowin Country Club. He also belonged to the Negaunee Cribbage and Pool Leagues and the Ishpeming Bowling League. When it came to helping family, friends and neighbors with any projects, Dale was always willing to put on his tool belt.

Surviving are his daughter, Kathy (Tim) Helmuth of Florida; two sons: Timothy (Julie) and Steven Talus, both of Ishpeming; four grandchildren: Victoria (Stanley) Uroda, Nicholas Helmuth, and Alicia and Brandon Talus; his brother, Bruce (Lois) Talus of Ishpeming; his sister, Suzanne (Bruce) Sheldon of Florida; special niece and nephew, Ashley and Matt (Vanessa) Talus; along with numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara (Maki) Talus in 2013; and an infant daughter, Pamela.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 10:00 am until 12 noon on Saturday, July 27th at the Koskey Funeral Home. A luncheon reception will follow at the Ishpeming VFW from 12 Noon – 2 pm. Interment will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery.
