CHAMPION, MI – Ronald K. “Nestor” Norkoli, age 79, longtime Humboldt area resident, passed away on Monday June 3, 2019 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of his family and nursing home staff.

Nestor was born at his family home in Humboldt on May 21, 1940, son of the late Nestor and Elsie (Rolstone) Norkoli. He attended and graduated from Champion High School before becoming a carpenter millwright where he excelled at working for over 60 years.

Nestor was a member of the local 1510 Carpenter and Millwright Union. He loved to go hunting, fishing, and trapping. Nestor enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler, putting on many miles in the woods around his home. He built two saw mills from scratch. Nestor was one of the best carpenter and millwrights around, he could fix anything.

Nestor is survived by 2 grandchildren – Jason Heikkila of Champion, Thomas (Kari) Heikkila of Forrest Lake, MN, 2 great grandchildren – TJ and Ava, his girlfriend of more than 20 years- Marlene Worth, along with numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife – Carol, and his second wife – Patricia.

Following Nestor’s wishes, his family will greet relatives and friends for a visitation greeting period on Thursday June 6, 2019 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home. Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Nestor’s family would like to extend a thank you to the entire staff at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility for the excellent care they gave to Nestor.
