Karen Rae (Seppala) Fosco

MARQUETTE, MI – Karen Rae (Seppala) Fosco, age 73, of Marquette, entered eternal life Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at UP Health System – Marquette, in the loving, comforting care of her family.

Born December 16, 1945, in Ishpeming, a daughter of Reino William and Carol Virginia (Sather) Seppala, Karen was raised in Covington and attended grade school there. She graduated from the L’Anse High School in 1963 and the UP Beauty Academy in 1973. On July 25, 1975, Karen married James “Jesse” Fosco. For many years Karen was employed as a bookkeeper, always working in an office setting at several businesses in the Marquette area. She loved paperwork, was very conscientious, and made sure her paperwork was perfect and complete. She also applied the same standards when dealing with her children and grandchildren, making sure everything was up to par. She valued her friends, from whom she also learned a lot, considering them pretty amazing. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest pleasure and she loved their sporting events, concerts, proms, etc. She led a full life, spending most of it trying to help others, and will be dearly missed.

Karen is survived by her husband of 43 years, James “Jesse” Fosco of Beaver Grove; her son, James “Jimmie” Leaf of Beaver Grove; four grandchildren, Tyler James (Brooklyn Aisthorpe) Leaf, Kaylin RaeAnn (Derrick) Maynard, Kira Rayn Massie, and Hailey Jo Leaf; great-grandchildren, Zayden Nikolas Leaf and Zoe Annette Leaf; her sister, Mary Joanne Seppala; and her close extended family and friends who were always part of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Michael “Myke” Dale Leaf, and her daughter, Kari Renee (Seppala) Massie.

Graveside services will be held at the Ishpeming Cemetery on Wednesday, June 26, at 1:00 pm.
