MARQUETTE, MI – Daniel Dean McLaughlin, age 48, of South Marquette, entered eternal life Wednesday, June 5, 2019.

Born October 24, 1970, in Marquette, a son of Gerald Patrick and Linda (LaRue) McLaughlin, Dan was a proud lifelong South Marquette resident. He graduated from Marquette Senior High School, Class of 1989, and soon after enlisted in the US Army. Dan served his country during Desert Storm as an M1-A1 tank operator, mainly stationed in Germany. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Marquette where he met the love of his life, Linell Lefebvre. Not only a married couple, but best friends, Dan and Linell established a home and began raising a family. For over 26 years, Dan was employed as a staff scientist with TriMedia Environmental and Engineering Consultants. Dan loved nature and all that it had to offer. He enjoyed being at camp with family and friends, and always looked forward to the special time of deer season and being out with his canine pals, Forrest and Bella. He enjoyed family gatherings, was a wonderful planner, enjoyed social events, loved kids, especially the little kids, was a great uncle, and was always willing to help out whenever needed. Dan was an avid fan of the Red Wings and Lions. And, being especially proud of his Irish heritage, Dan loved beer, always had a smile on his face, and was an awesome and devoted friend who could always be counted on.

Dan is survived by his wife and best friend of 24 years, Linell; his children, Bailey Dean McLaughlin and Kiara Marie McLaughlin; his sisters, Marcy (Dennis) Johnson and Leanne (John) Simmons, and brother, Patrick (Wendy) McLaughlin all of Marquette; mother-in-law and step-father-in-law, Shirley and Dick: Lefebvre; sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Lisa and Jeff Converse, Jodee and Tuffy Burton, Kevin and Kaleen Vanetta, and Kevin Kirkens; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
