MARQUETTE, MI – Steven Uno Koski, 62, of Marquette, died Sunday evening, April 28, 2019 shortly after admittance to U.P. Health System-Marquette.

Steve was born on December 16, 1956 in Marquette, a son of Edward and Edna (Hautio) Koski and was a lifelong area resident. He was a 1975 graduate of Marquette Senior High School.

Steve was the owner of Koski Excavating, worked as a welder at the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company for 20 years, Lake Shore, Incorporated, Marquette General Health System and R.K. Trucking.

He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and the Hiawatha Snowmobile Club. Steve loved to cook, was an avid griller, fisherman, hunter, snowmobiler, and was great at singing karaoke.

Survivors include his wife, the former Jill Kevern whom he married at St. Peter Cathedral on July 21, 1979; one daughter, Elizabeth (Greg) Beck of Columbia City, IN: one granddaughter, Bridget Beck; his mother, Edna Koski of Negaunee; one sister, Priscilla (Donald) Rossow of Olympia, WA; two nieces, Ashley and Alex Rossow; one aunt, Arlene Pelkola of Gwinn; also surviving are numerous cousins. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Edward Koski; a brother, Roger Koski; one daughter, Stephanie Koski as well as numerous aunts and uncles.

The Koski family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, May 3rd from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon at the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home where a funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 12 Noon with the Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber officiating.

Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Marty Hanninen, Doug Pascoe, Jim Richards and David Pelkola.
